OMG, I freakin' love a surprise!

OMG, I freakin' love a surprise!

I LOVE surprises!! And this one was so much fun to be a part of. The absolute best part of my job is getting to spread joy.

Here's what happened:

I was approached online with a request.

Today is the day of graduation ceremonies for College of the Atlantic here in Bar Harbor.

One of the people receiving an honorary degree is a woman who has worked with the Grassroots Global Alliance. Her colleagues there wanted to send a surprise gift to her hotel.

(By the way, this is how I feel when I get to be a part of a surprise like that;

Remember the SNL skit where Kirsten Wiig can't deal with surprises? Watch here 😂)

Anyway, hoping to find a local artist to support in giving this gift (love that!!) her colleagues found my website. They chose the Crescent Moon Necklace. Partly because it's a crescent moon today, the day of the ceremony, right at the phase that is captured in this necklace

I packaged it up, wrote out the card and delivered it to her hotel on Thursday so it would be in her room when she checked in.

The Shop Bag

Gleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! Just knowing that someone will be greeted after a day of travel with a lovely surprise gift that maybe brings a smile, is so much fun! And I'll probably never meet her, but maybe she'll love the necklace! And maybe she'll wear it today! An important day in her life's journey! I would be so honored to be a part of that!

Maybe it's a small thing, but if you shift your perspective, it can be seen as a big thing. I choose see it that way, and that makes my heart swell, and that feels good.

Congratulations Cindy! Thanks for the work you do, and thanks for letting me be a small part of your day!

And to everyone else, thanks for reading, go out there and spread some joy, it feels really good, I promise.

Anne, belatedly stumbled across this post that I missed earlier, and it made my (gray and dreary) morning. It’s such a poignant perspective on life’s big/small moments and the ripples that a thoughtful act can create. I hope you’re birthday (in this time zone) is a wonderful day and that a gesture like this is waiting in the wings for you.
